Biography
Prof. Robert Grossman is the Chief Research Informatics
Officer (CRIO) of the Biological Sciences Division, the
Director of the Center for Data Intensive Science, and the
Frederick H. Rawson Professor of Medicine and Computer
Science at the University of Chicago. He the principal
investigator for the National Cancer Institute Genomic
Data Commons (GDC), a next-generation platform for the
cancer research community that manages, analyzes,
integrates, and shares large-scale genomic data in support
of precision medicine. His research group focuses on data
science, data intensive computing, bioinformatics and
related research areas. He is the Founder and Chief Data
Scientist of Open Data Group, which specializes in
building predictive models over big data. He is also the
Director of the not-for-profit Open Commons Consortium
that develops and operates data commons and data clouds to
support research in science, medicine, health care, and
the environment.
