Dr. Robert Meakin is the CREATE Air Vehicles Project Manager. He earned his Ph.D. at Stanford University in 1986. Dr. Meakin is also a professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alabama (Birmingham). Prior to his work with CREATE, Dr. Meakin served as Technical Director of the U.S. Army HPC Institute for Advanced Rotorcraft Modeling and Simulation at Ames Research Center. He has more than 20 years of additional experience as a research scientist and developer of high-fidelity simulation software at NASA and U.S. Army Research Centers. Dr. Meakin has more than 50 publications in professional journals, refereed conference publications, and books. He is an Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Bob also continues to pursue research. His latest "invention" is "Strand Meshing," a method for automating the construction of structured body-centered meshes for ships and airplanes.
