Hoang Nguyen
Biography
Dr Hoang Anh Nguyen obtained a Bachelor of Software
Engineering (with Honors) degree from Monash University in
2009 and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree majoring in
Computer Science from the University of Queensland in
2016. The fundamental contribution of his thesis is to
show that science gateways can support complex
human-scientific workflow interactions,facilitating
monitoring and steering of the workflow execution as it
progresses. This is important, as human decision-making is
an important component of real-world computational
science. The scientific workflows are typically executed
on high performance computing and Cloud computing
platforms. Hoang has been working with the Research
Computing Centre since graduation. Dr. Hoang Anh Nguyen is
currently a research fellow at the Research Computing
Centre, the University of Queensland. He spends half of
his time performing research activities in scientific
workflow and science gateways. The other half is used to
help RCC’s clients with his expertise in HTC/HPC. He has
involved in constructing large-scale experiments, which
are from a wide range of disciplines (bioinformatics,
engineering and ecology). He also helps to maintain and
develop the Nimrod family toolkit.
