Espen Birger Raknes received a M.S. (2011) in applied mathematics and a Ph.D. (2015) in applied geophysics from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). After graduation he was a postdoctoral fellow at NTNU working with full waveform inversion, spectral element methods, and large-scale modeling and inversion. Currently he is working as a geophysicist in Aker BP focusing on full waveform modeling and inversion and high performance computing. His research interests include solution theory and numerical methods for partial differential equations, seismic modeling, imaging and inversion, and high performance computing.
